READ | Ephesians 1:4-8a
For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will – to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us.
REFLECT
Reflect on a time when your sin or wrong choices kept you from wanting to get close to God. Remember redemption is found in him (v7). What do you need to hear God say to give you courage to get close to him – sin and all?
PRAY
Jesus Christ, let these words sink through my intellect and land with weight in my soul:
- I am chosen (v4)
- I am adopted (v5)
- My existence brings you pleasure (v5)
Spend a few moments resting in these truths. Let yourself be drawn to him.
