READ | Ephesians 1:22-23

And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

REFLECT

In Ephesians 1:22-23, Paul calls Jesus the “head” of the whole church, and the church Jesus’s body. It says God placed all things under him. Church, in this verse, means all Christian churches everywhere, in other words the Universal Church.

Pause and reflect, what does a head do for a body? If Jesus is the head, what does Jesus do for the Universal Church?

ASK

Pray about it. Ask Jesus to show you where you might not be allowing him to be your “head.” Ask him to show you in what ways the Universal Church is not allowing him to be the head. Take time now to ask Jesus for forgiveness for yourself and on behalf of the Universal Church. Ask him to show you how you might better be part of “the body” as an example for others.
