READ | 1 Peter 2:9-10

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

REFLECT

Read the passage at a normal rate. If possible, read the passage again but out loud. Read the passage a third time slowly and underline any word or phrase that stands out to you. Pause.

In this passage there are several ‘before and after’ pictures. Take a moment and reflect on your personal before and after. It can be before and after salvation, a difficult life experience, or a specific event that changed you for the better.

ASK

Ask the Lord to continue to reveal his never-ending before and after throughout your day.

PARENT NOTE

Read this passage to your child or have them read it to you. Highlight the words “chosen” and “special possession.” Remind them that every moment of every day God is loving them, guiding them, and carrying them because they are chosen, His special possession.
