READ | 1 Corinthians 6:18-20

Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body. Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

CONSIDER

Our bodies’ sexuality can easily become a source of shame. But these verses show us some ways in which God has shown them great honor! Can you see some ways here in which God demonstrates how much he values our bodies? Specifically, how might the Holy Spirit think about your physical body? Take a few moments to ponder and maybe journal whatever positive comes to mind.

ASK

Pray honestly to God. If there’s something sexual you feel the need to confess to him, do it. If there’s a sexual temptation that you need his strength to flee from, ask him for that. Invite the Holy Spirit to fill you—your physical body—with more of his presence.

PARENT NOTE

Parents, please note that this may not be an appropriate devotional for your child. However, here are a couple of approaches that may work.

  1. Discuss the meaning of the word ‘precious’ with your child. Remind them that God made their bodies and they are precious. Discuss how to care for precious objects and in the same way, how to care for and protect your body.
  2. God gave us our amazing bodies to protect and care for. Remind your child that God made their bodies. Do an activity such as riding bikes, playing in the park or walking the dog and talk about good things your family can do to take care of your bodies.
