READ | 1 John 1:8-9

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

REFLECT

Consider the two options John offers: claim to be perfect or tell the truth about your imperfection. No shades of gray in the middle. What might God be inviting you to tell the truth about today? Maybe it’s something you’ve been trying to deny or explain away. In the safety of God’s presence, consider telling him the truth about that thing.

ASK

Faithful One, give me courage to name the sin that distracts and disrupts. Thank you for being so clear about the path to forgiveness and purity.

PARENT NOTE

Focus on the faithfulness of Jesus. Ask your child how often the sun rises and sets. Every day, without fail. That is the faithfulness of Jesus to forgive us. That is faithfulness.
