Come Serve with Vineyard Church during Compassion Month

Every November is Compassion Month at Vineyard Church of Augusta.  This is the time each year when we focus on God’s heart for the poor. On the Sunday before Thanksgiving, we will receive our annual Compassion Offering which funds all of our local and global ministries to the poor for the upcoming year.  (Click here to give to this year’s COMPASSION FUND)

This year our theme is “Hands-On Compassion.” The kind of compassion we find in scripture isn’t just an idea or an emotion, but an action or an experience. This month we have two special Thanksgiving serving experiences in addition to Storehouse, our year-round emergency food pantry which operates six times each month.

Thanksgiving Gift Boxes

Saturday, November 21

9 AM – 11:30 AM

Join us in the Vineyard Café as we assemble gift bags containing all the ingredients for a traditional Thanksgiving meal…including a frozen turkey.  The recipients of the gift boxes are clients of Storehouse we have served throughout the year.  Due to COVID-related concerns, the gift boxes will be distributed in our parking lots as a drive-thru.  Serving opportunities include assembling the bags, client intake, and loading the bags and turkeys in vehicles.  While Vineyard Church will provide gloves for all jobs, we ask that you please provide your own mask.  MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS OUTREACH.

Thanksgiving Dinner of Love

Wednesday, November 25, 6:30 PM – 8 PM

Thursday, November 26, 7:30 AM – 9 AM

The Dinner of Love is the hot meal delivery that takes place on Thanksgiving morning. Preparation for the meal begins the night before and includes boxing premade items as well as getting things set up for the next day. On Thanksgiving morning, the meal will be completed and assembled in carryout containers. Due to COVID-related concerns, this year we will only deliver meals to multi-family buildings.  Managers at each facility will take care of distributing the meals to their residents.  While Vineyard Church will provide gloves for all volunteers, we ask that you please provide your own mask.  MASKS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS OUTREACH.
