READ: James 5:15-16

And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

CONSIDER

In his letter, James connects “confess your sins to each other” with experiencing physical healing, and he connects righteousness with effectiveness in prayer. The Bible assures us God’s forgiveness isn’t based on our good deeds, but it tells us here that confession and righteousness go hand in hand with healing and answered prayers.

ASK

Have I been praying for healing? Is there a sin in my life that the Lord is inviting me to confess? How might confessing sin to another believer bring freedom? How might God’s freedom unlock spiritual, emotional, or physical healing in my life? Speak to God now and ask the Holy Spirit to show you if there is something he is inviting you to confess to another believer.
