compassion ministries &

community outreaches

Vineyard Church of Augusta desires to pursue God’s heart by serving those in need in our own congregation and community and by serving the poor beyond our nation’s boundaries. Through a variety of on-going ministries and outreaches, the message of hope through Jesus Christ is shared and material assistance is provided to thousands each year.

COMPASSION MONTH

Each November, Vineyard Church of Augusta sets its focus on God’s heart for the poor. Throughout the month, we will look to God’s Word and see His heart for the broken, the alienated and the disenfranchised, along with His never-ending compassion to bring healing and transformation to us all. Compassion Month culminates when we receive our annual Compassion Fund Special Offering at the end of the month. This is a one-time annual gift, over and above your usual tithes and offerings, that funds our entire ministry with the poor for the upcoming year. Don’t forget to involve your children in this important undertaking. You may continue to give to the Compassion fund through out the year!

  • The Vineyard Giving Farm

The Vineyard Giving Farm was started in 2015 as a way to provide fresh produce for Storehouse clients. Since that time, we have partnered with Helms College and their culinary arts program to provide students with agricultural experience, while still supplying produce for our Storehouse clients. We have occasional work days, which are on our events calendar here. If you are interested in volunteering for our next Work Day, or in another way, please click here.

  • lunch @ st. stephen's

The third Saturday of each month we meet at St. Stephen's House for lunch, conversation and prayer with residents. Please click here to sign up or for more info.

ATTN:  Lunch @ St. Stephen's has been halted for Summer 2017.  The Alpha course is on Wednesday nights at St. Stephen's.  If interested, please click here.

  • special needs dance

This annual dinner and dance in February is an opportunity to serve families with children or family members who have special needs. This is a dress-up event complete with great music, prom-style photo, dinner, and lots of dancing!  This event is completely free for participants.

Volunteers help serve food, talk with families, and dance with all of the participants.  If you would like to volunteer for the next dance please click here.   Shifts are available from 4:30 - 8:30 PM.

  • Fuel Saturday Sacks Program

We are able to provide 15 students with meals for the weekend. Volunteers prepare the sacks and deliver them to the designated school on Thursdays. Without these backpacks, these kids would not receive the nutrition they need over the weekend.

  • single parent fair

This free annual event serves single parents and their children with everything from from oil changes, car washes, and free lunch to kids' hair cuts, games for kids, massages for parents, and so much more. Great resource agencies partner with us, including the Family Y, The Boys and Girls Club, Helms College, and Augusta University School of Dentistry.

  • the augusta pride event

This event allows us to offer free prayer and conversation to anyone passing by our vendor table. We're able to share and show the love of Jesus.  The Augusta Pride event happens every June.  Click here to volunteer.

  • thanksgiving gift boxes

Each year, we put together boxes containing everything for folks to make their own Thanksgiving meal. Clients of the Storehouse Food Pantry sign up beginning in October. Box assembly and distribution from the Cafe is the Saturday morning before Thanksgiving. This year we were able to serve 175 families.

  • thanksgiving dinner of love

The Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, volunteers begin preparing hundreds of Thanksgiving meals. The final prep happens early Thanksgiving morning.  Distribution of individual meals take place by 8:30 AM. These meals primarily serve the elderly and shut-ins throughout our community.

  • christmas eve donut giveaway

Dozens of Krispy Kreme doughnuts are available after each Christmas Eve service for families to distribute to fire stations, police stations, emergency rooms, and a host of other locations.
