READ | Luke 3:15-16 (TPT)

During those days, everyone was gripped with messianic expectations, believing that the Messiah could come at any moment, and many wondered if John might be the Christ.

But John made it clear by telling them, “There is one coming who is mightier than me. He is supreme. In fact, I am not worthy of even being His slave. I can only baptize you in this river, but He will baptize you into the Spirit of holiness and into his raging fire.

CONSIDER

Where do you turn when you are having one of those “during those days” moments or seasons? Do you look to the current popular self-help guru, promise-making politician, or favorite televangelist? John the Baptist pointed to the only One deserving of being our source of hope – Jesus, who would baptize not just for forgiveness (rescue), but “into the Spirit of holiness and his raging fire.” The Holy Spirit inspires purpose and ignites passion to make us into overcomers!

ASK

Lord, please show me where I have allowed the struggles of life to make me passive about the things that You are passionate about. Holy Spirit, I invite you into these areas of my life… stir the fires of holiness within me that illuminate the love of Christ for the world around me.
